To record the actual audio that the keyboard is playing, you would need to connect audio cables from the keyboard to an audio interface connected to your computer. If you want to sequence (that is, record MIDI data) something on your computer and have the keyboard play back that sequence, you need to create the sequence on your computer (however you care to do that), set the MIDI outputs of the various tracks to whatever the SQ-80 is connected to (outputs, not inputs), then you should be able to have the SQ-80 play back that MIDI sequence. Set the inputs on an audio track to the inputs on your interface and now the audio can be recorded to your computer.
So in that case you could create MIDI data on your computer using a sequencer program, then have that MIDI data use the synthesizer on your keyboard to create sounds. The MIDI in connection on your SQ-80 would be used to take MIDI data from a different device (in this case, your computer), and use that data to play back sounds using the internal synthesizer contained in the keyboard. This data is sent to your computer where it can be recorded and/or used to trigger sounds contained on your computer. In the case of your SQ-80, the MIDI output on the keyboard only sends MIDI data out, pertaining to what key was pressed, what velocity (how loud the note is), how long it was pressed, patch/channel info, etc. In order to get any sort of audio data from the MIDI device (assuming it is capable of creating/sending such data), you would need to connect audio cables (most likely 1/4" TS) to your computer or other device.
When you connect a MIDI device to your computer and hear sounds when a key on the MIDI device is pressed, you are hearing the sounds from inside your computer (or possibly that MIDI data being sent to another external device that is creating the sounds). The data it carries is generally related to pitch, note velocity, note length, etc.
MIDI data is purely "controller" based, meaning it carries zero audio data.
